Daminis sells contemporary Asian clothing. Traditionally little or no current design input would have been considered in the formation of such a store but the owner saw that his customers, predominantly UK born Asians, also shopped at Oasis or Kookai, Topshop or Topman.
We were therefore commissioned to design a store with western influences, but which also involved elements and shapes from Indian architecture and furniture to create a cultural blend.
The design included using steam-bent ply side panels in mid floor units, along with backlit tracery panels within window beds paying homage to elements of Corbusier’s Chandigarh
